Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said RON95 petrol in Malaysia remains at RM1.99 per litre with government subsidies, despite rising Brent crude prices above US$100 per barrel amid the Middle East crisis.
Speaking at the National Consumers Day launch in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday (March 15), he added that diesel subsidies in Sabah and Sarawak continue, but future affordability beyond April is being assessed.
Anwar also reaffirmed Malaysia’s stance against violence and its role as a stable mediator sought by major nations like Saudi Arabia.
