Panic and outrage broke out aboard a Vande Bharat train on Friday after a fly was allegedly found in the breakfast served to passengers travelling from Agra to Prayagraj.
The incident occurred around 7 am in coach C-13, where a woman reportedly vomited after discovering the insect in her food. The situation led to chaos inside the train, with passengers questioning the quality and safety of railway catering services.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a passenger—claiming to be a doctor—confronting railway officials over the phone. He is heard asking what action would be taken and raising concerns about potential food poisoning, even questioning accountability in case of serious health consequences. Passengers also complained that the railway helpline was not reachable and demanded a refund for the meal.
Reacting to the incident, Agra Railway Division PRO Sanjay Gautam confirmed that a fly was found in the food served in coach C-13. He stated that an investigation has been initiated.
He added that catering services on the train are managed by IRCTC through contractors, and a notice is being issued to the concerned caterer. Appropriate action will be taken as per railway rules.
The incident has once again raised concerns over food quality and hygiene standards on premium trains like Vande Bharat.
