Two three-storey shophouses along Jalan Perak in George Town were extensively damaged in a fire on Thursday (July 2).
Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said the corner shophouse sustained about 90% damage, while the adjacent unit was 80% destroyed.
