Complaints over maternity leave and allowances fell by more than 30% in 2025, with only 41 cases recorded compared to 67 in 2024, reflecting the effective enforcement of the 98-day maternity leave policy, Dewan Rakyat was told on Monday (July 6).
Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan also said female labour force participation edged up to 56.8% in the first quarter of 2026, while the government is studying a new post-Maternity Leave Allowance under Perkeso to help cover extended recovery leave and reduce employers' hiring costs.
